Idaho building codes for roof replacement

Idaho has no mandatory statewide residential code. What applies depends on the jurisdiction that issues the permit.

The latest edition of the Idaho state building code is based on the 2018 IBC and 2018 IRC (effective as of 01/01/2021). Local jurisdictions which adopt or enforce a building code must use the state code. Local jurisdictions are not required to adopt and enforce a code and in those jurisdictions builders are not required to adhere to the state building code. Local jurisdictions have some window of time to update their code editions to the state code edition, but the boundaries of this time period are not clearly defined. The previous edition of the state building code was based on the 2015 IBC (effective from 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2020) and 2012 IRC (effective from 01/01/2015 to 12/31/2020).
