Maine building codes for roof replacement
Maine enforces a residential code statewide.
The latest Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC) uses the 2021 IBC and 2021 IRC as of 4/7/2025 and applies to all jurisdictions in Maine. However, the MUBEC is only required to be enforced in jurisdictions that have a population of more than 4,000 per the most recent decennial census. Jurisdictions with less than that are not required to enforce the code, but may not adopt or enforce any other code.
