Maryland building codes for roof replacement
Maryland has no mandatory statewide residential code. What applies depends on the jurisdiction that issues the permit.
Maryland adopted the 2021 IBC and IRC as of 5/29/2023. Maryland jurisdictions have 12 months thereafter (until 5/29/2024) to adopt and amend the new code before they are required to enforce it. The previous Maryland building and residential codes were based on the 2018 IBC and 2018 IRC and were effective from 3/25/2020 to 5/28/2023.
