The latest edition of the New Jersey state building code is based on the 2021 IBC and 2021 IRC, is effective as of 09/06/2022 with a six-month transition period overlapping the old code, and is mandated statewide. The previous edition was based on the 2018 IBC and 2018 IRC, was adopted on 09/03/2019, and was mandated statewide.
